Position Title: Graphic Design Trainee (Prepress & Content Production)

Visual Content Specialist
Purpose of your position:
The Graphic Design Trainee supports the Visual Content Specialist in producing creative materials for digital and print platforms.
This traineeship offers a structured entry pathway into design and content production — developing technical skills, creative judgment, and a strong understanding of brand consistency.
The role contributes directly to the organisation’s ability to communicate clearly, accessibly, and creatively with the community.
Employment Conditions
Employment is under a formal traineeship agreement and linked to successful completion of the ICP31420 Certificate III qualification.
The position is full-time (38 hours per week) and may include dedicated study time.
Occasional work at events or offsite projects may be required.
This position is primarily based at Interchange Shoalhaven’s Head Office
Training costs and wage subsidy may be supported through approved workforce development funding.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrated interest in design, visual communication, or digital media.
Attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
Willingness to learn new software and design techniques.
Capacity to work collaboratively in a team.
Commitment to completing a Certificate III traineeship.
Other Requirements
Some familiarity with Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud.
Interest in photography, illustration, or content creation.
Understanding of social media and communication trends.
Key Responsibility Areas
Assist in creating and preparing design materials including flyers, brochures, social media posts, and digital assets.
Work within established templates and brand guidelines to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Prepare artwork for print and digital delivery (resizing, exporting, proofing).
Support the management of photo, video, and design asset libraries.
Assist the Visual Content Specialist with photography, filming, or content editing tasks.
Contribute to new design ideas and campaign layouts.
Maintain accurate records of creative work, file versions, and approvals.
Undertake structured learning and assessment activities aligned to the Certificate III qualification.
Learning and Development Focus
The traineeship provides practical learning in:
Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva.
Layout, colour, typography, and image management.
Print and digital prepress processes.
Workflow and communication within a creative environment.
Accessible and inclusive design principles.
Supervision and Support
Day-to-day guidance from the Visual Content Specialist.
Mentoring and progress review with the Management Team.
Supported external training through an approved Registered Training Organisation.
Administrative support coordinated through Skills Development funding programs (where applicable)
