Skills Boost Shoalhaven

Skills Boost Shoalhaven was a community-driven employment initiative developed by Interchange Shoalhaven to support people with disabilities in regional New South Wales. The program connected eager to work individuals with local businesses that need reliable staff—bridging a gap that often goes unaddressed in rural areas like the Shoalhaven.

Through a supportive, three-step process, Skills Boost helped participants gain real-world job skills and workplace experience in a safe, structured, and encouraging environment. Businesses benefited from tailored support and guided introductions, while participants received hands-on training, increased confidence, and a genuine path to employment.

During the 2025/26 financial year more than 60 Shoalhaven residents were proud graduates from the Skills Boost program. Dozens of local employers including The Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre, Franks Espresso, Bangalay, Paperbark Camp, Bakehouse Espresso, Earnest Arthurs, Flour Water Salt, Milkwood Bakery, Bomaderry Bowling Club, Crooked River Winery, Daily Grind Coffee Roasters, Bundanon, The Rutledge Bar & Eats, The Co-op Gerringong, Jamberoo Jerky, Kiama Pavillion, Jervis Bay Wild, Club Jervis, Little Earth Roasters, The Sebel Kiama, Nowra Ex-Servos, The Growers by Ponte, Kraken Bakery, Salty Joes, Tuna Tail Bowls and The Country Club St Georges Basin all helped with site visits, work experience and ongoing employment opportunities.

The spirit of Skills Boost is set to continue in Interchange Shoalhaven’s very own hospitality venue and training centre - stay tuned for further news on this exciting development.

It’s super easy, we find the people, we talk to the businesses, we tee up all the connections and then we monitor it all the way through. So, the success is not difficult to obtain and very easy to get.
